Antiphon: At the Name of Jesus let every knee bow, of those that are in Heaven, on earth, and under the earth; and let every tongue confess that the Lord Jesus Christ is in the glory of God the Father.
V. Thou, O Lord, shalt open my lips. R. And my mouth shall declare Thy praise.
O most sweet Jesus, Who hast said: 'Ask and you shall receive; seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you'; behold us prostrate before Thy Sacred Throne, with full confidence in Thy mercy and compassion, humbly beseeching Thee to hear us in this novena made in honor of Thy most Holy Name. Grant us, O most loving Jesus, what we ask of Thee. But above all other petitions, grant us the grace to know Thee more perfectly, to love Thee more ardently, and to serve Thee more faithfully in this life, that so we may come to behold Thy glory face to face in the life to come.
O Holy Name of Jesus, be Thou the object of all our reverence, the rule of all our actions, the solace of all our labors, and the consolation of all our sufferings. As every knee in Heaven and on earth and under the earth must bow before Thee, so may our hearts bow low in ceaseless adoration, and our lips confess with joy that Thou art Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Most Holy Name of Jesus, Thou art the Name above all names, the Name which from all eternity the Father bestowed upon His only-begotten Son, and which the Blessed Virgin Mary, forewarned by the Archangel Gabriel, gave at His Circumcision to the Redeemer of mankind. This Name is our strength in temptation, our refuge in danger, our consolation in trial, and our hope at the hour of death. Before this Name the devil trembles and flees; at this Name the sick are healed, sinners are converted, and the dying find peace.
O Jesus, in Thy Holy Name we place all our confidence. Through the merits of Thy Precious Blood shed at Thy Circumcision, when for the first time Thy Blood was outpoured for our salvation and this sacred Name was pronounced over Thee, we beseech Thee to hear our petitions. Thou knowest our needs, O Lord; Thou knowest our weakness and our misery. Look upon us not according to our sins but according to the multitude of Thy mercies, and grant us what we humbly implore through this novena, if it be conformable to Thy holy will and conducive to our eternal salvation.
O Jesus, King of Glory, Who reignest forever and ever, through the intercession of Thy most Blessed Mother, the Immaculate Virgin Mary, who first pronounced Thy Name with such surpassing love, and through the intercession of Saint Joseph, Thy foster-father, who carried Thee in his arms on the day that holy Name was given Thee, mercifully hear our prayers and graciously grant our petitions. May Thy Holy Name be praised and glorified now and throughout all eternity. Amen.
V. The Name of the Lord is a strong tower. R. The just man runneth to it and shall be exalted.
Let us pray.
O God, Who didst appoint Thine only-begotten Son to be the Saviour of mankind and didst command that He should be called Jesus, mercifully grant that we may enjoy in Heaven the vision of Him Whose Holy Name we venerate on earth. Through the same Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. Amen.
V. Blessed be the Name of Jesus, now and forever. R. Praised be the Name of Jesus in Heaven and on earth.
