Principal Prayer for Each Day
Pray this same prayer each day after the day's meditation.
O most sweet Jesus, Who didst deign to take upon Thyself our human nature, and Who, on the day of Thy circumcision, didst shed Thy most precious Blood and receive the Name of Jesus - the Name which is above all names, the Name at which every knee must bow in Heaven, on earth, and beneath the earth - I humbly adore Thee and give Thee thanks for this Thy ineffable condescension and love. Thou art the Name given by the Father before all ages; Thou art the Name written in the hearts of the elect; Thou art the Name that is salvation itself, for there is no other name under Heaven given to men by which they must be saved.
Most Holy Name of Jesus, be Thou the joy and consolation of my heart. Be Thou ever on my lips and ever present to my mind. May I never dishonor Thee by sin, nor ever be ashamed to confess Thee before men. I consecrate to Thee, O most sweet Name, my understanding, that it may ever meditate on Thee; my will, that it may ever love Thee; my tongue, that it may ever praise Thee; my whole being, that it may be wholly devoted to Thy greater glory.
Holy Name of Jesus, be my strength in temptation, my refuge in affliction, my comfort in sorrow, and my crown in glory. As on this earth I am ever calling upon Thy Name, so may I be found worthy to praise it forever with the Angels and Saints in the Kingdom of Heaven. O Lord Jesus, by the merits of Thy most Holy Name, grant me the graces I now implore.

Let us pray. O God, Who didst appoint Thine only-begotten Son to be the Saviour of mankind, and didst command that His name should be called Jesus: mercifully grant that we may enjoy in Heaven the vision of Him Whose Holy Name we venerate on earth. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
V. Sweet is the Name of Jesus. R. In the ears and hearts of the servants of Christ.
O most Holy Name of Jesus, I beseech Thee, through the merits of Thy most precious Blood, which Thou didst shed even in Thy earliest infancy for the redemption of our souls, grant unto me true contrition for my sins, amendment of life, perseverance in good works, and finally the grace of a happy death. May I, by constantly honoring Thy most Holy Name in this life, deserve to praise and glorify it together with all the Saints throughout eternity. Amen.
