IndulgencesTraditional grants recorded in 1910

Historical grants; current availability is not established here.

These grants concern the five-decade Rosary prayed within this novena. They do not establish a separate indulgence for completing the 54-day novena or for its additional prayers.

Recite five decades continuously while meditating on the mysteries. Use rosary beads; in a group, it is sufficient for the leader to use them. An allowance applies if you are unable to meditate. Read the cited source for the full conditions. Except for the first grant below, the beads must have been blessed by a Dominican priest or another priest with the required authority.

  • 5 years and 5 quarantines each time

Recite five decades as described above. For this grant, the beads need not be blessed.

  • 10 years and 10 quarantines once a day

Recite five decades with other people, in public or private, using beads blessed as described above.

  • Plenary on the last Sunday of the month

Habitually recite five decades with others at least three times a week, using beads blessed as described above. Confession, Holy Communion, a visit to a church or public chapel, and prayer for the Pope’s intentions are also required.

To receive the indulgence, you must be in a state of grace, intend to gain the indulgence, and devoutly complete the prescribed prayer or work.

To receive the full benefit of a plenary indulgence, you must be sorry for every sin, even venial sin, and free from voluntary attachment to any sin.

Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.

Hail Mary (once)

Hail, Mary, full of grace; the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Offering in petition

Hail, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, my Mother Mary, hail! At thy feet I humbly kneel to offer thee a Crown of Roses, snow-white buds to remind thee of thy joys, each bud recalling to thee a holy mystery; each ten bound together with my petition for a particular grace. O Holy Queen, dispenser of God's graces, and Mother of all who invoke thee! thou canst not look upon my gift and fail to see its binding. As thou receivest my gift, so wilt thou receive my petition; from thy bounty thou wilt give me the favor I so earnestly and trustingly seek. I despair of nothing that I ask of thee. Show thyself my Mother!

Apostles' Creed

Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell: the third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Our Father (once)

Our Father

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary (three times)

Hail, Mary, full of grace; the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory Be (once)

Glory Be

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Sweet Mother Mary, meditating on the Mystery of the Annunciation, when the angel Gabriel appeared to thee with the tidings that thou wert to become the Mother of God; greeting thee with that sublime salutation, "Hail, full of grace! the Lord is with thee!" and thou didst humbly submit thyself to the will of the Father, responding: "Behold the handmaid of the Lord. Be it done unto me according to thy word,"

I humbly pray:

About this novena

Description

Charles V. Lacey's Rosary Novenas to Our Lady, published in the United States in 1926, records the devotional account of Fortuna Agrelli and Our Lady of Pompeii. The booklet directs five decades each day for twenty-seven days in petition, followed immediately by twenty-seven days in thanksgiving, using the repeating Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious mysteries. It presents the apparition account as human testimony. This edition supplies the booklet's complete prayer sequence rather than only a schedule or abbreviated prompts.
