O God, Thou gave the Church St Peter Chanel as an example of holiness, crowning him with martyrdom.

He showed the people of Oceania Thy gentleness, compassion, and love.

Grant that in these days of paschal joy we may so celebrate the mysteries of Christ’s Death and Resurrection as to bear worthy witness to newness of life. We especially ask, through St Peter Chanel’s intercession, for the graces of

St Peter Chanel, you left your homeland to proclaim Jesus, Savior of the world, to the peoples of Oceania.

Guided by the Holy Spirit, who is the strength of the gentle, you bore witness to love, even laying down your life.

Grant that like you we may live our daily life in peace, joy, and in love.

May your prayer and example call forth from our midst many workers for the Gospel so that God’s kingdom may reach to the ends of the earth.

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
