You may come to the chaplet with a grief of your own or with someone else’s name in mind. You may also pray it during a peaceful season, in gratitude and love. Read the mystery, say the prayers, and give God the attention you can. No particular feeling has to be produced.
Excerpt from The Seven Sorrows of Our Lady: History, Meditation, and the Traditional Rosary.
The prayer order, Act of Contrition, traditional meditations, and closing prayer follow The New Raccolta (1903), pages 222 to 224. The common prayers follow Father F. X. Lasance’s With God (1911), and Scripture readings use the Douay-Rheims Bible. Explanations and imagined everyday examples are editorial aids, kept separate from the historical prayers. This private devotional compilation carries no ecclesiastical imprimatur.
