St. Wenceslaus of Bohemia
Formed in the faith by St. Ludmila, Wenceslaus tried to rule Bohemia with justice, mercy, and reverence. He was murdered by his brother's party and honored as a martyr.

Brief life
Wenceslaus learned the Christian faith from his grandmother St. Ludmila and tried to rule Bohemia by it. The faith was still young in his land, and the court around him remained divided by ambition, violence, and older customs.
As duke, Wenceslaus sought justice, mercy, and peace. He cared for divine worship, supported the clergy, and resisted the cruelty expected of a ruler in a rough political world. His piety was not an escape from government. It shaped the way he used power.
His brother Boleslaus and his companions murdered Wenceslaus as he went to church at Stara Boleslav. The Church honored him as a martyr, and the people of Bohemia claimed him as their heavenly patron. He is remembered not only for the manner of his death, but for the Christian rule that prepared him to meet it faithfully.
